Milwaukee Veteran’s Affairs

If you are a VA patient please call the Milwaukee VA Orthopaedic Surgery Office at (414) 384-2000 ext. 42110 or request a referral to orthopaedic surgery from your VA Primary Care Team. The staff at Hand to Shoulder Specialists of Wisconsin do not have access to your VA records and will be unable to assist.

Dr. Trenga’s connection with our veterans traces back to his maternal grandfather, who emigrated from the Philippines for a lifetime of service in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. Growing up with his grandfather and other servicemen and servicewomen in his family, he saw first-hand the sacrifices our active-duty soldiers and veterans make on a day-to-day basis.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Trenga volunteered with Team River Runner, a non-profit dedicated to teaching injured veterans to kayak, which inspired him to pursue a career in musculoskeletal medicine. He has performed research on combat-related injuries from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which was presented nationally. He continued to work with veterans throughout his medical education and orthopaedic training at the Salem, Virginia VA and Milwaukee VA. He is honored to have a part-time appointment at the Clement J. Zablocki Milwaukee VA treating veterans in all aspects of the hand, shoulder, elbow, and general orthopaedics.
